The Summer I Turned Pretty

A beautiful, light and breezy watch, this series will surely make you reminiscent of your late teens. It follows Belly, a girl who's turned 16 and pretty this summer. Caught in a love triangle between two brothers she seems to have known for ever, she has to deal with her first love and first heartbreak during what can still be called the perfect summer. 

The series touches upon other themes and relationships, too, some of which are less light and fun, and others even heart-wrecking. On a more critical plane, I was at a loss to see teechagers kissing, hugging and boozing in front of their parents. What, really?!

Anyway, a conspicuously luxurious villa with a pool and frills, dazzling white yachts, never-ending sandy beaches and crashing turquiose ocean waves serve as a stunning backdrop to these explorations of life and love.

A perfect holiday kick-off for me.

The series is based on a trilogy, and Season 2 is due.... but only next summer.
